  • Arrive in Shangluo (via Xi’an or other gateway city) and meet your guide and driver at the train station or airport.

  • Transfer to your hotel and take time to rest after the journey.

  • If time allows, enjoy a relaxed walk through the city: breathe in the fresh mountain air, try local snacks, and get a feel for life in this “poetic city” framed by hills and rivers.

Overnight in Shangluo.

Day 2 – Shangluo: Mountains, Water, and Qinling Ecology

  • After breakfast, head into the surrounding mountains to experience Shangluo’s natural scenery, where forests, lakes, and valleys show the softer, greener side of the Qinling range.

  • Stroll along lakesides or forest paths, take photos of terraced hills and clear streams, and enjoy the slower rhythm compared to big cities.

  • Learn from your guide about the Qinling Mountains as a natural boundary between north and south China, and why this region is known for biodiversity and unique local culture.

  • In the late afternoon, return to Shangluo city for free time, dinner, and a quiet evening.

Overnight in Shangluo.

Day 3 – Shangluo to Hanzhong: Into Panda Country

  • Depart Shangluo after breakfast and travel towards Hanzhong, an important city at the foot of the Qinling Mountains and gateway to panda habitat.

  • On arrival, check into your hotel and have lunch with local specialties from the fertile Hanzhong basin.

  • In the afternoon, visit a giant panda conservation base in the Qinling area, where you can observe pandas resting, playing, and feeding at close range under professional care.

  • Learn from staff or your guide about panda conservation efforts, the differences between Qinling pandas and other panda populations, and how the base protects both the animals and their mountain environment.

Overnight in or near Hanzhong.

Day 4 – Hanzhong: Guhan Platform & Local History

  • This morning, visit Guhan Tai or a similar historic site in Hanzhong that reflects the city’s role in Chinese history, including connections to the Han dynasty and classic Three Kingdoms stories.

  • Explore the surrounding area or a local museum to better understand why Hanzhong is often described as a place of both “mountain scenery and cultural depth.”

  • Enjoy some free time in the afternoon: stroll along riverside promenades, sample local snacks, or visit an old street lined with shops and teahouses.

Overnight in Hanzhong.

Day 5 – Hanzhong to Weinan: Huashan and the Qinling Peaks

  • After breakfast, travel from Hanzhong towards Weinan, home of the famous Mount Hua (Huashan).

  • Arrive at the Mount Hua scenic area and take cable cars and walking paths to suitable viewpoints, enjoying dramatic cliffs and the unique beauty of one of China’s Five Great Mountains.

  • Your guide will share stories of Huashan’s role in Daoist culture, martial legends, and how this peak stands as a powerful symbol along the Qinling range.

  • In the evening, check into your hotel in the Weinan area and rest after a day of mountain exploration.

Overnight in or near Weinan.

Day 6 – Weinan: Final Qinling Views & Departure

  • Depending on your departure time, spend a relaxed morning in Weinan, perhaps visiting a local viewpoint, temple, or town area to enjoy final views of the Qinling Mountains.

  • Your guide and driver will then transfer you to the nearest high‑speed railway station or airport for your onward journey.

I came mainly for the pandas, but what stayed with me was the cultural framing of the whole journey. Visiting the conservation base felt meaningful because the guide explained how the Qinling region represents a completely different ecological lineage in China. It wasn’t just “seeing animals,” it was understanding a whole living system.

Sofia Alvarez

Shangluo surprised me a lot. I didn’t expect the landscape to feel so untouched. There’s a calmness in the valleys that makes you slow down without trying. The transition from nature to historical sites in Weinan and Hanzhong was very well balanced. PerOrient really knows how to design flow, not just destinations.

Benjamin Clarke

What stood out was how history and geography were always explained together. In Hanzhong, the Guhan Platform wasn’t just a site—it became a lens to understand strategic geography in Chinese history. This kind of contextual storytelling is rare in standard tours.
