Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Harbin: First Taste of the Ice City

Arrive in Harbin, where a private guide and driver will be waiting at the airport or train station. Settle into your hotel and get a short orientation to the city as you drive in, learning how it became China’s iconic “Ice City” with strong Russian influences.
The rest of the day is at leisure to rest, explore nearby streets, or try a simple local dinner such as hearty northeastern dishes to warm up.

Overnight in Harbin.

Day 2 – Tigers, Old Harbin Streets & Ice and Snow World

After breakfast, start the day at the Siberian Tiger Park. Travel inside the park area by minibus, passing enclosures where powerful tigers roam, lounge, or play. With luck, you may also see younger animals and better understand ongoing protection efforts for this endangered species.

Continue to the Harbin Pharmaceutical Sixth Factory Museum of Prints. Often nicknamed a “Chinese Louvre” for its façade, this former factory complex showcases a mix of Classical, Baroque, and Rococo influences. Take time to appreciate its elaborate exterior and interior spaces, and hear how an industrial site became an unexpected architectural landmark.

Then visit St. Sophia Church, one of Harbin’s most recognizable buildings. View its onion dome and brickwork from the square and, if open, step inside to see how the hall has been repurposed while still echoing its Orthodox past.

From there, walk along Central Street (Zhongyang Dajie), a pedestrian avenue lined with European‑style buildings, cafés, and shops. Sample a few street snacks, browse local products, and feel the lively atmosphere that makes this street a favorite with both locals and visitors.

After dinner, head out to Ice and Snow World, where enormous ice palaces, sculptures, and slides glow under colored lights. Wander among towers, archways, and themed installations, taking photos and enjoying the surreal nighttime ice landscape before returning to your hotel.

Overnight in Harbin.

Day 3 – Harbin to Yabuli: Sleigh Ride, Skiing & Hot Springs

This morning, board a high‑speed train for about an hour to reach Yabuli, one of China’s best‑known winter sports bases. On arrival, transfer to the resort area.

Begin with a horse‑drawn sleigh ride through snow‑covered countryside. Rather than just circling a small track, the route takes you past rustic “bandit’s lair” setups and to a local farmhouse, where you can taste regional specialties such as sticky bean buns and waxy corn and get a feel for rural winter life.

Later, move on to the Yabuli ski resort. Whether you are a first‑timer or an experienced skier, there are slopes suited to different skill levels, and rental equipment is available on site. Enjoy several hours on the snow, with sweeping mountain views and well‑maintained runs that have hosted major winter games.

As evening comes, check into a hot spring hotel. Soak in outdoor or indoor pools filled with warm mineral water, letting your muscles relax after the day’s activities while snow piles up around you.

Overnight in Yabuli.

Day 4 – Yaxue Highway, Rime Forest & China Snow Town

After breakfast, set off along the Yaxue Highway, often praised as one of China’s most beautiful winter roads. Your private vehicle can stop at scenic spots whenever you like, giving you time to step out, take photos, and simply enjoy the white, quiet landscape on the way to China Snow Town.

Partway, switch to a snowmobile and ride through forested slopes up to Mount Datudingzi, one of Heilongjiang’s highest peaks. From the top, look out over layers of snowy hills and trees before descending to walk through the Rime and Snow Gallery, where branches and trunks are coated in delicate frost. Along the path, you’ll pass named features such as Bear Ridge and Weihu Hall, and might even spot wildlife like roe deer if conditions are right.

Continue to China Snow Town, a settlement made famous by its deep snowfall and “snow mushrooms” – rounded, fluffy shapes formed as snow builds up on roofs, fences, and logs. Wander the main street, admire the fairy‑tale shapes lit by red lanterns, and, if time allows, warm up with a hot drink or simple snack in a local inn.

In the late afternoon or evening, drive back to Yabuli (around two hours) to your hot spring hotel for another relaxing soak.

Overnight in Yabuli.

Day 5 – Yabuli to Harbin & Departure

Enjoy a final breakfast and perhaps one more short walk in the crisp morning air. Then take the high‑speed train back to Harbin, where your driver will meet you and take you directly to the airport or station for your onward journey.

Your Harbin and Yabuli winter escape comes to an end, full of memories of tigers, snow villages, mountains, and glowing ice sculptures.

Ice and Snow World is honestly insane. Every corner looked like something out of a fantasy movie. It was freezing 😂 but absolutely worth it. I don’t think my camera left my hands for more than five minutes all night.

Nina Vogel

We loved the balance of this itinerary. One day we were wandering through Harbin’s historic streets, the next we were skiing in Yabuli and relaxing in hot springs. It never felt repetitive, and the transitions were very smooth.

Adrian Tan

I came mainly for the skiing, but the snowmobile ride and hot springs completely stole the show. It was such a fun combination of adventure and relaxation. Estella kept everything running so smoothly that all we had to think about was enjoying ourselves.
