Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Chengdu: First Taste of the Southwest

• Arrive in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan and gateway to China’s southwest.

• Meet your guide and driver at the airport or railway station and transfer to your hotel.

• If time permits, take an easy stroll near your hotel or visit a nearby teahouse to experience Chengdu’s famously relaxed pace of life.

• In the evening, try local Sichuan snacks or hotpot (dinner at own expense) to begin your culinary journey.

Day 2 – Chengdu: Kuanzhai Alleys, Wuhou Shrine & Jinli

• After breakfast, explore Kuanzhai Alleys, a historic area of old courtyards, teahouses, and snack stalls where traditional Chengdu life meets modern cafés.

• Continue to Wuhou Shrine, dedicated to the Shu Han heroes of the Three Kingdoms period, and learn how history and legend shape Sichuan culture.

• From Wuhou Shrine, walk directly into Jinli Ancient Street, known for lantern-lit alleys, snack vendors, crafts, and folk performances, ideal for sampling Chengdu street food and picking up souvenirs.

Day 3 – Chengdu to Qiandongnan: Into Miao Villages

• Depart Chengdu and travel to Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou, one of China’s best-known regions for ethnic minority culture.

• On arrival, check into a hotel or guesthouse near a Miao village such as Xijiang or a similar traditional settlement, known for stilted wooden houses and terraced hillsides.

• Take an introductory walk through the old streets to see traditional wooden architecture, observation decks, and riverside paths.

• On arrival, check into your hotel in or near Jinghong city.

• Take a relaxed walk among palm trees, riverside promenades, or local night markets to feel the change from mountain villages to tropical borderland atmosphere.

• Visit a Dai village or cultural park to see traditional stilt houses, Buddhist temples, and local crafts, and learn about Dai customs, dress, and festivals.
